2010 Marathon Jam
On Saturday, February 27, the RDU Session Players will be hosting their seventh annual Marathon Jam. It will began at 1:00 pm and continue at least 12 hours with some of the best music of the year. Those in attendance will hear everything from Bruce to Bluegrass played by some of the best musicians in North Carolina. This year’s Jam will be held at American Legion Post 6, 1714 Legion Road in Chapel Hill.
As
in past years we are raising money at the event by asking for donations for people
playing in the event. Think of it like a walk-a-thon, only we get paid per
hour played instead of per mile walked. For the third time, this year’s
charity will be
The Fisher House
organization. This wonderful group provides lodging for the families of our
military who have been wounded and are back in the States receiving medical
attention. What an amazing group!!
In addition to the Chapel Hill location, Marathon Jams have been held in Richmond, VA, Boston, MA, Birchdale, MN, Birmingham, AL, and the granddaddy of all locations, Baghdad, Iraq.
We are extremely pleased to be able to announce that in the three years that we have been raising money for the Fisher House, we have raised more than $30,000 for this incredible group. Contributions can be made by contacting Whit Kenney at the email address shown below.
