Verse 1

C F
There was a girl I loved so dearly
          G7 C
She lived away back in the hills
                                  F
When the bluebirds sing I miss my darling
               G7 C
She loved me I know she always will

Verse 2

And the bluebird singing
                  F
In the Blue Ridge Mountains
           G7 C
Is calling me back to my home
                            F
Oh I can hear the bluebirds calling
           G7 C
Is calling me back to my home

Verse 3

                                    F
Tonight I'm far from the Blue Ridge Mountains
            G7 C
Far from my home back in the hills
                                      F
Well I'm going back to the Blue Ridge Mountains
          G7 C
These memories haunt me still

Verse 2

And the bluebird singing
                  F
In the Blue Ridge Mountains
           G7 C
Is calling me back to my home
                            F
Oh I can hear the bluebirds calling
           G7 C
Is calling me back to my home

When I reached my home I was oh so lonely
          G7 C
The one I loved had gone away
                            F
That sad news came from her mother
               G7 C
She's sleeping there beneath the clay

Verse 2

Oh I can hear the bluebirds calling
           G7 C
Is calling me back to my home
