Verse 1

G C
My heart is sad and I am lonely
G D
For the only one I love
G C
When shall I see her oh no never
G D G
'Til we meet in heaven above

Chorus

G C
Oh, bury me beneath the willow
G D
Under the weeping willow tree
G C
So she will know where I am sleeping
G D G
And perhaps she'll weep for me

Verse 2

G C
She told me that she dearly loved me
G D
How could I believe it untrue
G C
Until the angels softly whispered
G D G
She will prove untrue to you

(Chorus)

Verse 3

G C
Tomorrow was our wedding day
G D
Oh God oh God where can she be
G C
She's out a courting with another
G D G
And no longer cares for me
