Verse 1

C F C
Oh I knew we loved each other the night that we first met
                                            G7
It just happened there was nothing we could do
       C F C
Let me stay with my children ’til they can understand
                             G7 C
That I love them and they’ll know I love you too

Verse 2

                          F C
Don’t go so far away love try to stay around
                                          G7
For losing you would be more than I could bear
           C F C
Though I’m tied to another I hope someday she’ll set me free
                   G7 C
But I don’t want a cheap love affair

Verse 3

                                   F C
So darling please forgive me don’t give me all the blame
                                      G7
Though I know that it doesn’t seem so fair
         C F C
When I’m free I’ll make you happy if you’ll only wait for me
                   G7 C
But I don’t want a cheap love affair

Verse 4

                          F C
Don’t go so far away love try to stay around
                                          G7
For losing you would be more than I could bear
           C F C
Though I’m tied to another I hope someday she’ll set me free
                   G7 C
But I don’t want a cheap love affair
