Key of C · Chords: I IV V

Verse 1

C C7
I remember when I was a lad
F C
Times were hard and things were bad
G7
But there's a silver linin' behind every cloud
C C7
Just poor people that's all we were
F C
Tryin' to make a livin' out of blackland dirt
G7 C
But we'd get together in a family circle singing loud

Verse 2

C7
Daddy sang bass Mama sang tenor
F C
Me and little brother would join right in there
G7
Singin' seems to help a troubled soul
C C7
One of these days and it won't be long
F C
I'll rejoin them in a song
G7 C
I'm gonna join the family circle at the throne

Verse 3

C7
No the circle won't be broken
F C
Bye and bye Lord bye and bye
C7
Daddy'll sing bass Mama'll sing tenor
F C
Me and little brother will join right in there
F G7 C
In the sky Lord in the sky

Verse 4

C7
Now I remember after work
F C
Mama would call in all of us
G7
You could hear us singin' for a country mile
C C7
Now little brother has done gone on
F C
But I'll rejoin him in a song
G7 C
We'll be together again up yonder in a little while
