The Everly Brothers

Written by Karl Davis

Key of G · Chords: I V

Verse 1

G D7
Kentucky you are the dearest land outside of heaven to me
                                              G
Kentucky I miss your laurels and your redbud trees
                                                           D7
When I die I want to rest upon your graceful mountains so high
                                     G
For that is where God will look for me

Verse 2

                                                          D7
Kentucky I miss the old folks singing in the silvery moonlight
                                        G
Kentucky I miss the hound dogs chasin' coons
                                                          D7
I know that my mother dad and sweetheart are waiting for me
                           G
Kentucky I will be coming soon
