Key of G · Chords: I IV V

Verse 1

G D7 G
Ribbon of darkness over me since my true love walked out the door
                  C G D7 G
Tears I never had before ribbon of darkness over me
                             D7 G
Clouds are gathering over my head they chill the day and hide the sun
                                 C G D7 G
And shroud the night when day is done ribbon of darkness over me

Verse 2

D7 G D7 G
Rain is falling on the meadow where once my love and I did lie
D7 G D7 C D7
Now she's gone from the meadow my love goodbye
G D7 G
Ribbon of darkness over me where once the world was young as spring
                                   C G D7 G
Where clouds bloom and birds would sing ribbon of darkness over me

Verse 3

D7 G D7 G
In this cold room lying don't want to see no one but you
D7 G D7 C D7
Lord I wish I could be dying to for-get you
G D7 G
How I wish your heart could see how mine just aches and breaks all day
                      C G D7 G
Come on back and take away ribbon of darkness over me

Verse 4

                      C G D7 G
Come on back and take away ribbon of darkness over me
