Key of C · Chords: I IV V

Verse 1

      C F
There was a girl I loved so dearly
          G7 C
She lived away back in the hills
                                  F
When the bluebird sings I miss my darling
               G7 C
She loved me I know she always will

Chorus

There’s a bluebird singing (bluebird singing)
                            F
In the Blue Ridge Mountains (Blue Ridge Mountains)
        G7 C
Calling me back to my home
Oh I can hear (I can hear)
                F
Those bluebirds calling
        G7 C
Calling me back to my home

Verse 2

     C F
When I reached my home I was oh so lonely
          G7 C
The one I loved had gone away
                            F
That sad news came from her mother
               G7 C
She’s sleeping there beneath the clay

Verse 3

    C F
Now tonight I’m far from the Blue Ridge Mountains
            G7 C
Far from my home back in the hills
                                 F
I’m going back to the Blue Ridge Mountains
      G7 C
These memories they haunt me still
